How to choose the right trophy size
A simple way to match trophy size to the award, so your presentation night looks right and your budget goes further.
Size sends a message
On presentation night, everyone can see the trophies. A bigger trophy says this is the top award, and a smaller one says well done for taking part. Choosing sizes with a clear step between them helps every award feel earned.
A simple size ladder
- Participation and encouragement: medals, or the smallest trophy size in the range. These suit every player in a team.
- Most improved, coach's award and team awards: a small to medium trophy.
- Best and fairest, player of the year, MVP: a large trophy, or the largest size in a range.
- Perpetual trophy for the club's top award: a large cup or perpetual trophy that is displayed year round.
Many designs come in a range of sizes
Most trophy designs come in several sizes, often labelled A to E, so the same design can be used across a whole club. Heights typically run from around 100mm for small figures up to well over 500mm for large cups, and the sizes and heights are listed for each product in our catalogues.
Using one design in several sizes keeps your awards looking like a set, while still giving the top winners something larger.
Think about who is holding it
Junior players often prefer a smaller, lighter trophy they can carry home, while senior and perpetual trophies suit larger cups. If you are unsure, ask us for suggestions based on the age group.
Think about the budget
Large trophies cost more than small ones, so many clubs buy a few large trophies for the major awards and medals for everyone else. If you have a fixed budget, tell us the number of awards and the total you would like to spend, and we will suggest a mix that fits.
Do not forget the plate
A larger plate has room for more wording, which suits perpetual trophies and awards where you want the winner's name, the grade and the season. If you plan to add a logo, check the logo insert size for the design you choose.
